Reaping the whirlwind

For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind:

The Chicago Sun-Times was spot-on in ruing the deep sixing of Trump's Chicago rally - "You can’t shut up Trump by shouting him down. Maybe for an hour.  But his chance to speak is never further away than the next microphone.  As this campaign has shown, hating on Trump’s hate only makes him stronger and only makes his supporters more resolute."

Attempt to beat the man down, he rises up stronger than ever.

At the same time, was interested in a friend's Facebook posting that also took the protestors to task, noting, "What we saw tonight is mob rule. If you find yourself getting satisfaction from Mr Trumps rally being cancelled...or anyone's free and legal speech being suppressed by mobs of protesters, then more thought needs to be engaged..."

What my friend misses is that Donald Trump was the agitator that sabotaged his own rally.  He wasn't present, but his influence was.

It's hard for me to believe my friend, who's well read & highly intelligent, could miss that salient point.  Last night was the place where Mr. Trump has been herding supporters & protestors.

Responding to a "Fox & Friends" comment about a protestor being "roughed up" by his security, Trump said, "I don't know. Rough up? Maybe he should have been roughed up because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing. 11/22/15

"There may be somebody with tomatoes in the audience. If you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously. OK? Just knock the hell -- I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees."  02/01/16

"We have some protestors who are bad dudes. They had done bad things. They are swinging. They are really dangerous. We had a couple big strong powerful guys, doing damage to people. And if they're going to be taken out, I'll be honest. We have to run something."   02/09/16  (during debate)

"I'd like to punch him (a protestor) in the face, I'll tell ya."  02/22/16

"I love the old days. You know what they used to do to guys like that when they were in a place like this? They'd be carried out on a stretcher, folks."  02/22/16

Most of those quotes are from last month.

Closing with a tweet from Politico's Edward-Isaac Dovere which I fear will prove all too prescient - "Whether Trump gets the nomination at the convention or is denied it, there seems about 100% chance of violence."
