It's the citizenry they appeal to that shakes me.
Who believe that theocracy is evil while staunchly believing the USA is divinely ordained to be governed by Christian precepts.
Who probably never learned that it was Dwight D. Eisenhower - not the founding fathers - who added "One nation under God" to our Pledge of Allegiance.
Who believe Jefferson Adams Madison intended us to have freedom of religion, not freedom from religion.
Who lean toward candidates who stroke & stoke their fears.
Who prefer validation over honesty.
The candidates' popularity will change; the people remain the frightening constant.
